Just another day in Paris

For my Madame Duncan, our restaurant near Musee Carnavalet.

I got myself, Chad and 6 friends out of our houses at 8 am to take a boat cruise up the Marne river. Everyone kept telling me that we should go, beautiful views, nice trip, good way to spend the day. We got there, picnic in hand and settled into our seats for a day well spent. Even old Elvis was on board. Going to be a blast of a day, right?

Sort of. Turns out the French maritime guys decided today was a good day to block the river. No Marne trip today. The boat tried to convince the strikers to let us thru. No. They tried to have us go the other way, up the Seine. No blocked as well.

You have to laugh. And not just to keep from crying. Just another day in Paris. Since that was supposed to take all day, we just took our picnic lunch to Place des Vosges. Of course it rained on us a bit. Just another day in Paris. Then the sun came out to warm us all up. Plenty of good food, good conversation and good laughs. We rounded off the end of the afternoon, once it started raining again, at a pub playing pool. 0-4 for the Nickell team.
