Houston revisited

23 September 2008- News from my old homestead: Still no power in the neighborhood. 10 days and counting. Eagle-eyed neighbors sent pictures of the trees that were felled, water level on I-10, and hanging out with bits of signage. Mostly yard, fence and roof clean up for my friends. Thankful for that. But still plenty of cleanup, power restoration and things to do to make the city hum again. Our storage facility has reported no damage (furniture that we didn't bring to Paris is packed up in Houston). Please make sure you don't forget about them, which is easy in the latest financial mess. Donate to charities including SPCA and others helping in the massive rebuild. Political message approved by me, Linda Ashby.
Chad is in the Islands. Not exactly the good ones like we visited last year on the boat LIFE IS GOOD especially since Chad says it was raining. Now he will have to speak spanish. He did pretty well this morning ordering a taxi for the trip to the airport in French. Lets hope the strikes (major rail not public transport) are over when he comes home.
I am holding down the fort here with a huge pile of ironing. Since I can no longer complain about doing the dishes, my next least favorite chore has moved up the ranks. Going to spend the week trying to get as much exercise in as possible. The challenge has gotten a bit off track, not much cardio and way too much cheese. Time for bed for me and Junior so we can get up and try running tomorrow.
