Ah, Tahoe. Nestled just south west of Reno in the midst of the Sierra Nevada mountains. The famous and much photographed Emerald Bay in the south California corner. Yes that is my actual picture, no credit to be given other than for my Iphone in panorama mode.
Three girls walking and hiking. T, Luannie and me. Hiking Spooner Lake loop. A flat trail for those counting at home. I do live at a whopping 8 ft above sea level. Most of the Lake Tahoe area averages over 6200 ft. And yes it affected all of us.
At such high altitude, the pine cones get enormous!
Ah the beach at Zephyr cove. This was the party beach. Boats of all kinds go in and out of here.
And Lu thought the frozen beverage she just finished was cold. Snow runoff makes the lake anywhere from 41-57 degrees. She doesn't get in her pool until it hits 75, at the least!
A nod and left handed swing at a former travel mate. She bought nothing but resort wear for a trip to Hawaii and Bahamas. Those who have known me long enough, can narrow that one down!
Heavenly Village. We tried the gondola but lightning stopped us from going up both times it was attempted.
Uncle Al has some deliveries to make! Cheers to Chad for letting me go blow off TX.
Me at the Emerald Bay lookout vista.
Me and the cheesy self portrait with Eagle falls in the background.
More of Eagle Falls. Desolation Wilderness beyond that, no permit so we turned around and found an Irish pub to celebrate our hiking triumphs.
Second day we did the west coast hike. Tahoe City to Sunnyside on the multi-use trail. Not as much photographed. Again beautiful coasts, mountain views and relatively clear skies.
Happy Fourth of July, America!
Foxy and Smooky reunited at last! Smooky drove in from the Bay area to see us and spend the Fourth. We visited her friend at a Heavenly Village resto. Great chef of Japanese-Hawaiian fusion foods, and say yes habanero fudge brownie with green tea ice cream! OMG
Our fireworks viewing facility was Incline Village Beach. Had to pay for beach access and then had to get rid of our glass containers. They had 3 cases of plastic pitchers so all was good, wine was saved and relished on the beach.
The beach had lots of polished rocks and cobbles. A bit of sand too. Ah!
Sunset looking West.
Happy Birthday America with some good old fireworks. think this one was the money shot of the evening!
Of course we had a blast, getting out of the heat of TX and AZ, seeing good friends, making a new one (must like travel), eating good food, drinking good wine and beer and just relaxing in the mountains. I asked one day one "when is our next trip" That travel bug has bitten me good!
