24 August 2008-- Tapping into the Phx Sky Harbor free internet and getting ready to board for Newark, then a stop at Duty free for tequila (margaritas a francais), then on to Charles De Gaulle airport arrival at 930am tomorrow morning.
I will definitely post about the whole trip but right now tired, sad and excited at the chance of sleeping in my own bed again. 3 weeks was a good length vacation. Chad will have a hard time adjusting back to work but my parisian lifestyle should come right back.
We put 3800 miles on the rental car (mostly in Colorado) but it kept right on trucking along. Highly recommend the Toyota Corolla, averaged 35 mpg. Might have to be Chad's next USA car.
Last night was the main event and reason for flying into and out of Phoenix. My annual Dave Matthews Band concert. Kind of sad since the woodwind master Leroi Moore passed away this week after a accident and incomplete recovery. The band had replaced him on the leg of the tour after the accident but it still took some excitement out of the guys. Read last year's post regarding the concert. Not quite the same grin on Carter Beauford's face. The replacement Jeff Coffin did a great job on my favorite song, 41. I missed my camp-out-buddy for a drink at the Liquid lounge because of it, sorry dear but so worth it. Right then I realized that was our anniversary. 5 years that Chad and I have been together- lucky beyond belief. I guess we got each other shoes, croutons, ranch dressing, dial body wash for gifts. Good enough. We will be celebrating the signing date (officially married) this year since in european date logic it is 10/09/08. One more celebration with american date logic in 9/10/11. Otherwise, keep the August 23, 2008 as the date to celebrate!!!
Sorry if we missed you this trip. Our door is always in Paris and we should be returning next May. Just in time for my birthday so start saving now for my gifts (jalepenos, mascara, etc).
