16 December 2008- Chad was out of town to Hamburg and it was not raining so I ventured out to see the lights and window displays of the department stores on Boulevard Haussman. Freezing cold, about 1 degree C or 35 degress F. But I got some good video of the displays. Printemps is more of an upper crust store and their theme was Reve Noel Cosmic or Dream of Cosmic Christmas. Still fun with all the moon men and teddy bears. Galeries Lafayette was definitely more wow-factor with all the moving parts in their Noel Grand theme. Their ad for the season is a King Kong with a Santa hat decorating the Eiffel Tower with tinsel. Both stores have raised areas for the kids to see even better. Included in my video is the Barenaked version of Jingle Bells. The Barenaked Ladies usually record one song naked and I am thinking it was definitely this one. See and hear for yourselves!
Creche scenes will show up here soon. They are amazing.

That is awesome! Thanks for braving the temps to bring that video to your faithful blog readers.
That is a great video! Thanks for posting it!
Am I the only one that thinks those were some tripped out window displays? Definitely a different point of view! Thanks for posting. The song was great too... "Batman smells and Robin laid an egg..." LOL
As much as the Germans are purists about Christmas, the French are the opposite. Nothing traditional. Florists sell trees in all colors and nothing is off limits except the norm.
